Benefits at the University Library

Community Borrowers receive library borrowing privileges and other benefits, including off-campus access to the online magazine, journal and newspaper resource, ProQuest Research Library.  

 

Join or Renew Your Membership:

Annual contribution:

  • Student:  $35 (The individual must be enrolled at an accredited educational institution and present a valid student ID.)
  • Regular:  $75 (as of January 1, 2024) 
  • Alumni: Free with a valid UC Santa Cruz Alumni ID card and a picture ID.

 

 

By Mail:

  • Include your name, address, telephone number, and email address.  If you are making a payment on behalf of another person, please give us this information about yourself and the same information for your friend.
  • Include your check made out to UCSC Foundation.  When we receive your instructions and payment, we'll mail you or your recipient and notify the circulation desk of your payment. Library cards are issued at the McHenry or Science & Engineering Library Circulation Desks upon presentation of a picture ID with a current address and matching utility or other household billed item with the same address. You must be 18 years of age or older to purchase a Community Borrowers library card. The expiration date is one year from the date of issue or expiration of Community Borrowers membership.

In Person:

Join, renew or make a payment on behalf of another person at the Library Services Desk of McHenry Library or the Science & Engineering Library. 

Library cards are issued at the McHenry or Science & Engineering Library Circulation Desks upon presentation of a picture ID with a current address and matching utility or other household billed item with the same address. Payment can be made in the form of a check (check made out to UCSC Foundation) or credit card (no money orders please) of the appropriate Community Borrowers fee. You must be 18 years of age or older to purchase a Community Borrowers card. The expiration date is one year from the date of issue or expiration of Community Borrowers membership.
