This library subject endowment is established in loving memory of Carlos A. Sandoval, accomplished artist and scholar, valued UCSC staff member, and affectionate husband, son and father, whose creative contributions were tragically cut short by his premature death. The endowment will provide a permanent memorial to Carlos' special artistic and intellectual interests and deeply-felt commitment to books, artistic expression, and the book arts.
The Sandoval Endowment is established to provide enriched support for UCSC library collections in the book arts, including, but not limited to, significant contemporary examples of the genre, historical and critical works, and books in the subject area of printmaking, etching, and engraving. Endowment income will be administered by the library's art bibliographer, in consultation with UCSC faculty and students and support of the academic program.
