This endowment was established to help build a premiere women's studies collection at the University Library. Funds are used to purchase books, serials, videos, films, microforms, and databases in the many areas of women's studies, such as the full-text database, Contemporary Women’s Issues, of international newsletters, pamphlets, and journals. The endowment honors two founding faculty of the women's studies program at UCSC: Bettina Aptheker on her promotion to full professor and Marge Frantz on her retirement, and to celebrate departmental status for women’s studies.
