An international nonprofit scientific and educational organization founded in 1889 that works to increase the understanding and appreciation of astronomy.
Online exhibit from the Center for History of Physics. Tells parallel histories of tools and ideas. Tools of observation range from the naked eye to space telescopes. The ideas of cosmology are conveyed through biographies and portraits of the men of science, with images of their machines and conceptions.
