Duplication/Reproduction Fee Schedule
(pricing as of January 2008)

• Photocopying:
The cost for copying for personal use by individual researchers is
 30  cents per page.

• Digital Scanning for Publication:

A. Scanning and other labor required to reproduce material for which UC Regents hold copyright:

1. UCSC Publication Requests:

Reproduction costs:
A reproduction fee of $25.00 per scan will be recharged for material from University Archives requested by UCSC units for campus publications. (Rate approved by UCSC Rate Committee 2006)

This price is inclusive of scanning up to 600 DPI for a 24 RGB TIFF file, file sizing as requested, and burning the file to CD

Usage costs:
No usage fees will be charged to UCSC campus units when the work being reproduced is from University Archives for use in campus publications.

2. All Other Publication Requests:

Reproduction costs:
A flat reproduction fee of $50.00 per scan will be charged to any non-profit or commercial requestors.

This price is inclusive of scanning up to 600 DPI, 24 bit RGB TIFF file and burning the file to CD, or 72 dpi jpeg for internet and web use..

8.50% California Sales Tax will be added to the final price.

Usage costs:
Non-Profit  use in book, journal, newspaper,  CD publication, DVD publication, brochure:
                   $50 per image

Commercial use in book, journal, newspaper, CD publication, DVD publication, brochure:
                  $100 per image
                 
Approved re-use in same publication:
                  50% of Usage fee.

                  Additional promotional use (e.g., publicity posters, etc.):
                  25% of Usage fee.

Internet, Web site use:
                  Cost may vary; please inquire with Special Collections

Shipping and mailing costs:
There is no charge for digital files delivered via email. Costs for special mail handling such as UPS express, overnight delivery, or special shipping will be added accordingly to the reproduction and usage costs.

B. Scanning and other labor required to reproduce material for which UC Regents do not hold rights:

Reproduction costs:
For all requests, a reproduction fee of $100 per scan will be charged.

This price is inclusive of scanning up to the approved DPI/ level, any pre-press work required, and burning the file to CD.

8.50% California Sales Tax will be added to the final price.

Usage costs:
For material archived in Special Collections where copyright (intellectual property as defined by US copyright law) is held by the creator or heirs, referral will be made to the copyright holder.  Any permission fees required for reproduction are to be arranged and handled between the copyright holder and the requestor.

Shipping and mailing costs:
There is no charge for digital files delivered via email. Costs for special mail handling such as UPS express, overnight delivery, or special shipping will be added accordingly to the reproduction and usage costs.
