Off-Campus Access Bookmarklet

In order to reload any page on the Web through OCA server, use the OCA Bookmarklet.

Internet Explorer Users

1. To install the button, right click on this OCA Bookmarklet button and select the 'Add to Favorites' link. You may see a warning dialog -- click 'OK' to continue.
2. To reload page you're currently viewing in your browser through the OCA proxy server, just click the 'OCA Bookmarklet' link from within your Favorites menu.

Firefox Users

1. To install the button on your browser, first make sure that the 'Bookmarks Toolbar' toolbar is visible in your browser. Click 'View' > 'Toolbars' and verify that the 'Bookmarks Toolbar' item is checked.
2. Drag this OCA Bookmarklet button to the 'Bookmarks Toolbar' toolbar.
3. An 'OCA Bookmarklet' button should now appear in your 'Bookmarks Toolbar'.
4. To reload page you're currently viewing in your browser through the OCA proxy server, just click the button.

Mozilla/Netscape Users

1. To install the button on your browser, first make sure that the 'Personal Toolbar' toolbar is visible in your browser. Click 'View' > 'Show/Hide' and verify that the 'Personal Toolbar' item is checked.

2. Drag this OCA Bookmarklet button to the 'Bookmarks Toolbar' toolbar.
3. An 'OCA Bookmarklet' button should now appear in your 'Bookmarks Toolbar'.
4. To reload page you're currently viewing in your browser through the OCA proxy server, just click the button.

Safari Users

1. To install the button on your browser, first make sure that the 'Bookmark Bar' toolbar is visible in your browser. Click 'View' > 'Menu' and verify that the 'Bookmark Bar' item is checked.
2. Drag this OCA Bookmarklet button to the 'Bookmarks Toolbar' toolbar.
3. An 'OCA Bookmarklet' button should now appear in your 'Bookmarks Toolbar'.
4. To reload page you're currently viewing in your browser through the OCA proxy server, just click the button.

This button will help if you find yourself on a restricted access page only to realize you needed to use the Off-campus Sign-in button first? By clicking on this bookmarklet, you will be redirected through the proxy server for the page you are currently viewing. In some cases you may need to use the browser's "Back" button to return to the resource URL, not the vendor's login/error page.

This works with Google Scholar search results page and works after clicking on emailed Tablse of Contents Alerts from journals. It also works for Tables of Contents Alerts from RSS Feeds.

LibX Firefox Extension

For even more functionality, use the UCSC LibX Firefox extension. It adds a right click menu option to your Firefox browser that will load any Webpage or link through the Off-Campus Access proxy server. It also adds an option to highlight any text and run it through a Google Scholar search or Cruzcat. The extension also adds an optional extra search bar to your Firefox browser window that allows you to quickly search Google Scholar, Melvyl, or Cruzcat.
