Are you a community (non-UCSC affiliated) borrower?

Interlibrary Loan will retrieve any UCSC-owned items from NRLF for your use. The easiest way to find these items is to search Cruzcat. FOL/Alumni/Courtesy borrowers, use the manual form. Other users, please contact the ILL office to order.

What is the NRLF?

The Northern Regional Library Facility (NRLF) is a cooperative library storage facility, owned and operated by the University of California and located on the grounds of UC Berkeley's Richmond Field Station. It offers high density, low cost, environmentally controlled housing for infrequently used library materials belonging to Northern California libraries. Principal NRLF depositors are the libraries on the University's Berkeley, Davis, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz campuses.

How long does it take?

Materials will usually be delivered to UCSC within two working days of the request's receipt at NRLF. The loan period for NRLF materials is generally one year.

What about Special Collections items at NRLF?

Special Collections also stores infrequently used archival material in the NRLF's area devoted to special collections. Material may be recalled from the Facility for use in Special Collections' Reading Room. Ask at Special Collections for items to be recalled. It may take up to nine days for material to be retrieved. Special Collections material is non-circulating.
