How to Renew

UCSC Books and Periodicals

Items checked out from the McHenry or S&E stacks can be renewed:

In Person-By Bringing your library card or items to be renewed to the Circulation Desk at McHenry or S&E library.

By Phone-Call the Circulation Desk where you checked the item out:

McHenry Library Renewal Phone (831) 459-2756
S&E Renewal Phone (831) 459-5300

Phone renewals can be made during the library's open hours. When you call be sure to have your library card on hand. The Circulation staff member you speak with will be asking for the last 7 digits of your barcode number.

OnLine-Online renewals can be made 24 hours a day 7 days a week from anywhere in the world! Point your browser to http://cruzcat.ucsc.edu/patroninfo.html
For an online renewal you will need to enter your name, barcode number and PIN.

If your barcode number begins or ends with an A, do not include the A.

Your PIN is unique to the library, it is not your teleslug pin. It is created the first time you renew online. Whatever you enter into the "Enter you PIN" field the first time (provided it is 4-30 characters in length) will become your PIN. If you forget your PIN come to the Circulation Desk at either library and we can help you create a new one.

There is no limit to the number of renewals you can make. However, you will be prevented from renewing an item if another patron has placed a hold and/or recall on it.

ILL

Interlibrary Loan items are materials that are borrowed from other libraries (not UCSC) or from UCSC's remote storage locations. You can place a renewal request for these items at http://library.ucsc.edu/services/ill/

Reserves

Reserve material may be renewed for an additional loan period if there are no holds placed on it. All renewals must take place in person at the Reserve Desk where the material was checked out.

Media

UCSC faculty and their proxies may check-out Film and Music Center materials for up to three days only and renewals must be made in person.
