The Science & Engineering Library is pleased to
sponsor the lecture series, Synergy: Explorations
in Science and Society. This exciting series focuses on UCSC research, as well as
teaching and grants in science and engineering with a view towards
their impact on society.

California’s Future Climate: Likely Scenarios and Impacts
We are honored to have Professor Lisa Sloan as the Fall 2008 Synergy/Mosaic Lecture Series speaker. Lisa Sloan is a professor of Earth & Planetary Sciences, as well as the Vice Provost/Dean of Graduate Studies at UCSC. Professor Sloan, whose research involves examining marine and terrestrial geologic records of climatic and environmental change and investigating the driving forces behind such changes, will present results from a series of regional climate modeling studies that describe likely climate conditions across California in the next 50–100 years. She will also explore the possible impacts of these future climate changes upon the human and natural systems of California.
Please join us for this fascinating and important lecture.
