Articles
Use these
databases to search for articles. Links to the online full text versions
of the articles are often available. If the article is only available
in print, and the database does not provide the library's call number
(location) for the journal, you can search for the journal by its title in
CruzCat to find the location. Also use CruzCat
if you have the full
citation, again searching by the journal title.
Lexis-Nexis
Academic Universe [UC Only]
This rich resource only begins with access to regional, national and world
wide access to full text newspaper and popular magazine articles.
It also provides a business section which contains information on companies,
business news, industries, and accounting. The legal section contains
extensive information on state and federal case law as well as law reviews
and legal news. The reference materials include country profiles, polls
and surveys, and biographies. The medical section indexes medical journals
and health news sources. Coverage varies depending on journal or news
source.
- Expanded
Academic ASAP from Infotrac/Gale [UC Only]
- 1980-present.
Citations to articles from selected scholarly, scientific and general
interest journals, and popular magazines in all subject areas. Many
citations include links to the full-text of an article. Good place
to start for general multidisciplinary searches or for more popular
articles.
Proquest
Newspapers [UC Only]
LA Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal. Limited by these three
papers, however years covered is greater than Lexis Nexis, and the database
interface is more user-friendly. If you are content with only searching
these three papers, then this database is a good choice.
-
PubMed
- Mid-1960's
- present.This
searchable database of citations to biomedical literature is a customized
University of California edition of the the National Library of Medicine
PubMed database. This edition includes more links to full text than
the public version, and provides enhanced access to document delivery,
among other things.
