Dissertations 

Proquest Dissertations & Theses (This database (produced by UMI) includes citations for materials ranging from the first US dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester; those published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts, written by the author. Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. Free 24-page PDF previews available since 1996. When available (usually from 1997-present), online versions of complete UC dissertations are free to UC faculty, staff and students, but a credit card is needed for PDF access to works from other institutions.)

UCSC Master's Theses & Doctoral Dissertations ( Database of all postgraduate papers published at UCSC, searchable by author or title, and browsable by department, degree conferred, or year of publication. Recent papers awaiting cataloguing are included; catalogued papers are held at McHenry Library Special Collections, as well as in the McHenry and Science and Engineering Library stacks.
