Physicochemical and Environmental Plant Physiology by Park S. Nobel

This book was recommended by a professor as an “overview" of what I should know for my qualifying exams. It eloquently describes how plants are shaped by both physics and the environment, an area that I ended up pursuing in my own career. Equally important, it is a valuable lesson in being careful about how you advise students... I'm not sure the faculty member really intended for me to read the entire book!
