My
sister won the Handbook at a state chemistry competition. She gave
it to me on receiving a second copy with a fellowship. The Handbook
was a regular reference for college mathematics, physics, and engineering
courses. My sister went on to complete her PhD in Physics while
also being concertmaster at MIT. The Handbook, and all of Barbara's
other accomplishments, have been a constant inspiration to me through
college, graduate school, and academia.
