Andrew
Fisher - Professor, Earth Sciences
Selected: James
and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
This
book has been banned from several school reading lists, mainly because
some parents are troubled by a lack of respect for authority and
how adults are depicted - virtually all adults in the book are evil,
and the rest are eaten by a rogue rhinoceros in the first chapter.
From this book, I learned that most insects are friendly, sharks
probably won't hurt you, and we should not be afraid to initiate
risky, uncontrolled experiments.
