Database Vendor Connection File or Filter? Notes
CRUZCAT Innopac

Use the connection file from on- or off-campus.

PC Users:

1. Hold the alt key down and click this link.
2. Drag the downloaded file into your Applications > EndNote > Connections directory

Mac Users:

1. Hold the Option key down and click this link.
2. Drag the downloaded file into your EndNote > Connections folder.

Education Index Wilson Web

Endnote 9 users: First download the filter from Endnote Website.

PC Users:
1. Hold the alt key down and click this link.
2. Drag the downloaded file into your Applications > EndNote > Filters directory

Mac Users:
1. Hold the Option key down and click this link.
2. Drag the downloaded file into your EndNote > Filters folder.

Then import references into Endnote:
1. Search Education Full Text
2. Mark your references and click the "Exporting/Citing"Button.
3. Choose Export to Refworks, Endnote. Then choose the Endnote Filter and Export.
4. Use the WilsonWeb9.enf filter to import your text file.

ERIC

Cambridge Scientific Abstacts (CSA)

Try the ERIC (CSA) connection file on-campus.
Username is scruz. Password scruz596.

For complex searches or off-campus research, use the filter:
1. Search ERIC.
2. Select references. Choose Save/Print/Email Records.
3. Choose Full Format. Save records to hard drive, choosing appropriate PC or Mac format.
4. In EndNote: Choose the ERIC (CSA) filter as your import option.

Check to make sure all journal citation information imports correctly.
Expanded Academic Index (ASAP)

Gale

No connection file available.

In ASAP: Mark records and click Download. Choose the plain text with tags format.

In Endnote: Choose the Infotrac (Gale) filter.

JSTOR JSTOR No connection file available.

1. In JSTOR: Do search. Check the link Save Citation.
2. Click on View Saved Citations.
3. Select directly export citations into Endnote.

If that does not work, try again but at step 3:
3. Choose View and Save Citations in citation-manager format.
4. Save the text file on your computer.
5. Import the file in EndNote. Choose the JSTOR filter as your import option.

Melvyl® Catalog CDL (University of California)

Use the U of California connection file.

For complex searches, use the filter:

1. Search MELVYL
2. Mark records. Select save.
3. Select Print/Email link.
4. Select a tagged long format and then Go.
5. Choose File> Save As and save file to local computer.
6. Import file in EndNote: Use the latest 'U_of_California' filter from the EndNote as your import option.

PsycINFO Cambridge Scientific Abstacts (CSA)

Try the PsycINFO (CSA) connection file on campus.
Username is scruz. Password scruz596.

For complex searches or off-campus research, use the filter:
1. Search PsycINFO.
2. Select references. Choose Save/Print/Email Records.
3. Choose Full Format. Save records to hard drive, choosing appropriate PC or Mac format.
4. In EndNote: Choose the PsycINFO (CSA) filter as your import option.

Check to make sure all journal citation information imports correctly.

 

Sociological Abstracts Cambridge Scientific Abstacts (CSA)

Try the Sociological Abs(CSA) connection file on campus.
Username is scruz. Password scruz596.

For complex searches or off-campus research, use the filter:
1. Search Sociological Abstracts .
2. Select references. Choose Save/Print/Email Records.
3. Choose Full Format. Save records to hard drive, choosing appropriate PC or Mac format.
4. In EndNote: Choose the Sociological Abs (CSA) filter as your import option.

Check to make sure all journal citation information imports correctly.

UC-eLinks

California Digital Library (CDL)

Connect from your EndNote Library via UC-eLinks to check for the availability of items, including full text when available.

Available in EndNote 7 and later. Edit your EndNote preferences by following these instructions.

Web of Knowledge (Science Citation Index, Web or Knowledge) ISI

Use the Web of Science (ISI) connection file on-campus.

For more complex searches, or from off-campus, use the direct export feature:

1. In Web of Science: Mark references, select 'EXPORT TO REFERENCE SOFTWARE'.
2. The EndNote software should open and ask you to select and OPEN the library where you wish to put your citations.

 


Tips:

Use the links above to access the databases, they are ready for Off-Campus Access. For additional resources, see the Library's Education Research Guide.

Save pdf and html copies of articles in an organized way on your personal computer. Use a standard naming convention such as MLJv91i2p271.pdf (journal name, volume, issue, pages). After you've imported the citation into Endnote, drag the pdf into the "Link to PDF" field to link the article with the citation.
