S.H. Cowell Room

The Science & Engineering Library and Instructional Computing are partnering together on a pilot project called the Science Library lab.
Starting on March 31, 2008, the Cowell Room computer lab at the Science and Engineering Library will be supported and staffed by Instructional Computing.
This pilot will run until the end of Fall quarter 2008, in order to gather data and analyze what the next steps will be. For more information, visit http://ic.ucsc.edu/scilib and please feel free to give us feedback at ic@ucsc.edu.

Current students, staff and faculty with a UCSC login and password will be able to print their documents and have the jobs billed to their UCSC account, as is the case in other IC labs. For more information, visit the IC Printing page.
Printing jobs by purchasing a card at that location will still be an option for the public, as it is in other Library printing locations. The cost of printing is 10¢ per side.
Please note: The Public must purchase prints with a Slug Copy Card, which can be purchased from the card vending machine at the back of the Cowell Room-Science Library Lab.

The hardware, software and lab policies will be similar to other IC lab locations.
Services include access to electronic reserves (ERes) information, general web browsing, and campus email accounts.
The room is staffed with IC Consultants to assist with general navigational and troubleshooting questions.
Reference librarians are available to assist with selecting and mastering various electronic resources such as online catalogs, databases, and web resources.
Hours

The room is equipped with 48 workstations, both Windows and Macintosh platforms.
