Meet the New Staff, Thanks to Student Support for Measure 42!

Thank you students!  We are very pleased to introduce our new staff hired as a result of the overwhelming student support for Measure 42 which restored the Library's hours.  

Helen Belardi comes to us with 20 years of experience in the Watsonville and Santa Cruz Public Libraries. Helen first worked as a Library Assistant in Technical Services at the Watsonville Public Library. Most recently she worked as a Senior Library Assistant for the Santa Cruz Public Library providing Reference and Circulation support at the busy Aptos branch.

Briana Gaughan (not pictured) has worked in academic libraries as both a student and staff member for several years. She supervised fellow student assistants at Cabrillo College while completing an AA in Liberal Arts. More recently Briana worked as Periodicals Specialist at San Francisco State University where she also completed a BA in Psychology and Sexuality Studies.

Mary Ripma has varied experience both in public libraries and private information consulting. She first worked as a Reference Librarian at the Menlo Park Public Library before moving to a Information Specialist position at DIALOG. Mary recently returned to Santa Cruz after living New Zealand for the past 10 years.

 

Lorelei Sterling is a UCSC alum (BA '99) with nearly 10 years of experience working in public and academic libraries and private information services.  She has worked as a Search Vocabulary Editor for Corbis Corporation, an Audio Visual Librarian at the Southern Regional Library in Broward County, Florida, and a Graduate Assistant in Special Collections at Washington State University.  Lorelei completed her MLIS at San Jose State University in 2001 and an MA in History at Washington State University in 2009.

 

Helen, Briana, Mary and Lorelei will be working during evening and weekend hours supporting services at the circulation desks at both the McHenry and Science & Engineering Libraries.  Please feel free to stop, say hello and welcome them to the UCSC Library!
