As the concrete work finishes up, these may become less frequent because there will be so much going on within the interior, it's just too much to list. They will soon be working in several areas, installing ductwork, conduit, drywall, doors, elevators, etc. So, with so much going on in so many different areas, it would be very difficult to keep the two week schedule up to date. This may change to at least a monthly interval.
Here are some recent construction photos (taken by Eric Baker) of the fourth floor, the eastern part of the roof, and the first floor interior. Also shown are the second floor double height reading room at the southwest corner and the double height second floor group study area at the south east corner of the building.
There will be some removal of possible hazardous material today in McHenry Library in preparation for the renovation. On the fourth floor, in room 463, they are removing drywall in preparation for opening up the south exterior wall to the addition, and on the first floor they are removing some material from the ceiling at the northeast and southwest corners abutting the courtyard.
Environmental Health & Safety has been here to inspect the sites, and all the normal precautions are in place. The work should be completed today.
