Bookings
Use our booking service to ensure that an item in our colletion is available for your use on a specific date. A booked item may not be checked out or renewed by another patron if the circulation period would overlap with booking dates. However, a booking is not a recall. If you book an item at the last minute and that item is already checked out, we cannot guarantee our ability to honor your booking. Also, bookings are first-come, first-served. If another instructor has booked an item on the day you need it before you book it, we will not be able to honor your booking request. For the most reliable results, we suggest that you place booking requets at least one week in advance of need.
To book an item, please email us at fmc@library.ucsc.edu with the subject line "Media booking" and provide the following information:
- Your name
- Contact information (phone number, alternate email)
- Call number(s) and title(s) of item(s)
- Date you wish to book the item(s)
Please note that booked items have the same lending period as other items in our collection. Booked items that are on reserves for another class may only cirulate for one day.

Electronic Music Reserves
Zachary Watkins, the Media Center's Recording Technician, manages electronic music reserves in a variety of ways:
- He creates custom compilation CDs for instructors and places those on reserves
- He mounts instructor playlists into iTunes for student access in the Media Center
- He uploads instuctor playlists onto our QuickTime Streaming Server and makes them available to students through our ERes electronic reserves system
Please contact Zachary at zwatkins@ucsc.edu or call 459.3398 for more information about our electronic music reserves programs.
Requests for electronic music reserves are processed in the order in which they are received. Turn-around time depends on the size and complexity of the project. If you wish to use electronic music reserves via ERes, please be aware that once Zachary completes his work, he hands the project off to the McHenry ERes manager.
N.B. The McHenry ERes manager cannot complete the process of adding course assets until he receives an ERes Course Page Request Form. Please complete this form at the same time you make your request for uploading playlists. This will guarantee you a more favorable position in the McHenry ERes work queue.
