Hours

The Map Room is taking appointments from UCSC students, faculty and staff only at this time, as we prepare materials for relocation to other parts of the library.

The Map Room is open by appointment, Tuesday - Thursday  1 pm - 5 pm (afternoons only). Please call at least 24 hours ahead to make an appointment.

Hourly Parking; Permit Parking:

1. Hope to find an hourly "Pay Station" parking space in the
Core West Parking Structure on the corner of Heller and McLaughlin Drive.
On the map the garage is called "Core West Parking Structure". These spaces are on the 2nd level.

Bring dollar bills, lots of quarters, or a credit card to buy a permit from the machine at the east end of the garage (near the elevator). Limited to 2 hours.

2. Visitors may also purchase "A" parking permits for $6 per day, which allow you to park wherever you can find a space (except reserved, carpool, and disabled spaces).
Currently permits may be purchased from 7:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Stop at the red kiosk building about 200 yards inside the main campus entrance at Bay & High Streets.

Programs and permits can be purchased by cash, check and credit cards (Mastercard & Visa accepted).

UC Santa Cruz does recognize parking permits from other UC campuses - be sure your permit is displayed, perhaps with a note next to it stating which campus it is from.

Directions to the Science & Engineering Library

If you are a resident of Santa Cruz, taking the bus is an excellent choice. Get off any Santa Cruz Metro or UCSC shuttle bus at the Science Hill stop.

From the Parking Office or Main Entrance:

Follow Coolidge Drive to McLaughlin Drive.  Use this map of campus for street names.  The library is near the new Physical Sciences building at the south end of McLaughlin. When McLaughlin dead ends, turn left. The parking garage is on your left. [map - zoom out if necessary]

From the Parking Garage:

Walk east, exiting the garage past the elevator. 

Follow the sidewalk toward the large gray building ahead.

Cross the street, walk between the gray building and the orange building.

The Library will be in front of you, and the entrance is up the stairs to your right.
