Many government agencies produce maps and/or GIS data.
Four great sites for finding government information are:

- UC Govt. Information Librarians maintain this
excellent resource.
- InfoMine: Government
Information
- INFOMINE is a virtual library of Internet resources
selected by librarians. It contains useful Internet resources
such as databases, electronic journals, electronic books, bulletin
boards, mailing lists, online library card catalogs, and articles.
- Google Uncle Sam:
- This Google searches government agencies only.
- Google State Government Search
- For example, change the pull-down menu to California and search for "geologic maps" or "geology hazard zones".
