Georgia State University Library is part of a dynamic urban university
in the heart of Atlanta. With approximately one million visitors this
past year, the Library is an important partner in teaching and research
at the University with over 1.3 million volumes and an environment which
encourages active learning and study. The Library employs a
self-motivated staff of over 100 FTE who have the opportunity to work
with a diverse faculty and student population, as well as participate in
Library and University governance. The Library collections reflect the
needs of the University, and the Library is engaged in several digital
initiatives designed to provide access to an array of scholarly
information.

The University Library seeks a second committed and energetic science
librarian to provide innovative teaching and research support to the
following departments: Biology, Physics & Astronomy, and
GeoSciences/Maps. For these departments of responsibility, the librarian
will develop collections in all formats. This position reports to the
Head of Liaison & Outreach Services.

Responsibilities
This position works collaboratively with the science liaison for
Chemistry. The successful candidate will provide research assistance and
instruction to students and faculty in the assigned departments; deliver
quality, in-depth reference and consultation services and collection
development in the assigned subject areas; promote the library and
information literacy; and foster communication between the science
departments and the library. Liaison librarians assist with the general
reference service that includes desk and virtual reference hours and are
responsible for occasional weekend and evening hours. As faculty
members, liaison librarians serve on library committees and engage in
scholarly activities.

Requirements
ALA-accredited master*s degree in information/library science and
relevant professional experience in one of the advertised subject areas.
Familiarity with resources in a variety of formats, skill in use of
technology and web based applications, excellent communication,
presentation and interpersonal skills. PREFERRED: Second Master*s
Degree in appropriate subject area. Experience in Collection Development
in one of the subject areas is strongly preferred. Demonstrated interest
in research and professional activities.

The Pennsylvania State University Libraries seeks an energetic
librarian, interested in actively contributing to a wide range of
library initiatives, to join the Fletcher L. Byrom Earth and Mineral
Sciences Library ( http://www.libraries.psu.edu/emsl). This branch
library primarily serves the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences,
which offers degrees in geography, geosciences, meteorology, materials
sciences, energy and mineral engineering. This is a 12-month
tenure-track faculty position, which has concomitant responsibilities
for research and service, and reports to the Head of the Earth and
Mineral Sciences Library. The Science Librarian is expected to be
involved in all aspects of library operations - reference, circulation,
collection development and management - as well as faculty liaison,
instruction, research, and public and professional service.

Qualifications: Requires a MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or
equivalent; academic background or relevant experience in one of the
subject fields of the College, engineering, or the sciences; and
excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred
qualifications include the ability to thrive in a dynamic and
collaborative environment, reference and instructional expertise, and
experience working with diverse populations. Evidence of potential for
promotion and tenure will be considered.

Compensation: Salary and rank commensurate with experience. Excellent

The University of Wyoming Libraries is seeking applicants for the Head
of the Brinkerhoff Geology Library, a branch library located in the
Geology Department. The Geology library houses materials related to
earth and energy sciences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide vision and leadership for The Geology Library. Oversee library
operations and work flow. Establish priorities for the Library. Train,
supervise and evaluate two staff positions. Represent the Geology
Library to other library units and to external constituencies.

Serve as bibliographer for the Geology Department and the newly
established School of Energy Resources. Manage and develop the map
collection. Evaluate gift materials and make preservation
recommendations. Prioritize digitization of assets unique to University
of Wyoming.

Deliver reference services for the geology, energy resources and map
collections. Deliver instructional services to students and faculty
including course-related instruction and one-on-one consultations.
Provide training for colleagues in the use of specialized resources.

As a member of the library faculty, pursue an active and ongoing program
of professional development, scholarship and service. Report to the
Associate Dean of Libraries
