• The Minnesota Historical Society has created True North: Mapping Minnesota's History.

• The schedule of MAGERT events for Midwinter ALA in Philadelphia, Jan. 11-14, 2008 is now available online.


• ESRI preconference hands-on GIS workshops are being offered on Tuesday, February 5, at the new ESRI Sacramento office, prior to the California/Hawaii/Nevada Regional User Group (CA/HI/NV RUG) conference.


• ESRI has a new meeting next summer: the Survey & Engineering GIS Summit. It will be held August 2-5, 2008,
  San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California. ESRI staff must be delighted with the chance to get out of red-hot Redlands a second time during the summer.


• "Exploiting Geoscience Collections" is scheduled for mid-May, 2008, in London. The deadline for submitting abstracts has been extended to the end of January, partly in order to increase international representation.


• An excuse to go to Scotland: the Society of Cartographers
  44th Annual Summer School, at the University of Aberdeen, September 1-4, 2008. I think it says something about the weather in Scotland that Summer School is in September.

• Catalogers were reminded of the Latin Place Names database created by the Bibliographic Standards Committee of the Rare Books & Manuscripts Section of ACRL in an email from Nancy Kandoian, Map Cataloger at New York Public Library.


• The workbook and a presentation from a MAGERT cataloging workshop are available.
