The Writers

Bettina Aptheker has been faculty in women's studies at UCSC since 1980. She is the author of several books, including T apestries of Life: Women's Work, Women's Consciousness, She is completing work on a memoir. Bettina's course, Introduction to Feminism , has been among the most popular and influential at UCSC.

Teresa Antonia Broccoli, MSW graduated from UCSC in 1993 with a B.A. in literature. She is a writer and social worker.

Linda Rosewood Hooper came to UCSC as a junior transfer student in 1981 and graduated in chemistry. She returned to UCSC in 1985 for the Science Communication Program. She has worked at UCSC ever since, as an editor, event producer, union organizer, computer technician, and network analyst.

Todd J. McGregor (Bowser) was a staff member at UCSC from the early-1990s until 2003. His most recent position was as assistant college administrative officer at Porter College. He has been a member of the UCGLBTA, and was the co-organizer of the conference "Exposed." He was also a long-time organizer of the Queer Fashion Show at UCSC.

Jacquelyn Marie was the women's studies librarian at the University Library at UCSC from 1981 to 2001, and coordinated the archival component of the Out in the Redwoods project. She is also a writer and activist, and has served on the boards of many community organizations.

Sarah Juniper Rabkin, writer and teacher, graduated from UCSC's Science Communication Program in 1985. Currently in the environmental studies department, she has been a faculty member at UCSC for the past seventeen years. Sarah combines her love for nature and the outdoors with her passion for writing.

Chuck Ranberg was a student at Porter College (College V) in the mid-1970s.
Kristen Sharpe is currently a student at UCSC. She was the residential assistant for the queer-themed hall at Merrill College, and is a queer activist.

Jesse Silva graduated in community studies from UC Santa Cruz in 2000. His thesis was on queer youth in Dallas, Texas. He is a government publications assistant at the McHenry Library at UCSC, and a library science student at San Jose State University.
