ANNOUNCEMENTS

Orlando thanked all those who helped with the Fall Assembly:

•  Ken Lyons, Kerry Scott, Ginny Steel, Christy Caldwell, Annette Marines, Danielle Kane, Sue Perry, Catherine Soehner, Greg Careaga, Debbie Murphy, Karen Mokrzycki, Ann Hubble, Christy Hightower, Cynthia Jahns, Nancy Thomas, and Connie Croker

R&PD Deadline

•  In the general membership meeting it was stated to send your proposals to Christy Hightower. In fact the copy of the proposal needs to be sent to Christy Caldwell by January 11, 2006

•  Election calendar posted at www.ucop.edu/lauc/elections/calendar-2006.html . Nominations will be closed in March.

CHAIR'S REPORT

LAUC Fall Assembly update

Explored enabling technologies and technology solutions

•  Facilitates productive meetings without associated travel

•  Repository for publications, presentations and posters

•  Need to explore expense and technology issues: what can be used and how, costs

•  Ad Hoc committee will be charged to explore issue. Report by Spring Assembly

Bylaws

•  Discussion of moving bylaws into standing rules. There was clear support for the idea of standing rules

•  Sense that revision went beyond some campuses comfort level

•  Bylaws docs will be sent back to CCRJ for revision (ex: committees will be moved to standing rules)

Scholarly Communication

•  White papers written by faculty for faculty regarding scholarly communication will be sent to the UC-wide academic council. Watch for announcement when papers are released

Digital Stewardship and institutional repositories

•  Subject of professional development program at Spring Assembly June 1, UCLA

Member Announcements

•  Ginny Steel announced that any un-used R&PD funds remaining at the end of the year will be redistributed to those who exceeded their allocation. Be sure to save your receipts if you exceed your R& PD funds.
