GETTING STARTED
Use the Library's Research page as your starting point: http://library.ucsc.edu/research.html. Connect to all of the databases listed below by clicking on the link or by typing the title of the database in the search box in the middle of the research page.
Take a look at the "How to Get Started" page: http://library.ucsc.edu/ref/howto/. Especially useful for this assignment are the sections on evaluating information on the web, distinguishing between popular and scholarly sources, and citations styles.
Remember to use the login at http://oca.ucsc.edu/ in order use the databases listed below from off-campus. You must have an active library account to use the Off-Campus Access service.
YOUR TOPIC
Below is a short list of reference books and online databases that will help you learn more about your topic. These are most helpful at the start of a research project for gathering keywords and obtaining a list of books and/or articles for further reading. Use these instead of Wikipedia.
