Import Citations Into EndNote Web

Faculty of 1000 Biology

In F1000 Biology:

1. Mark references.
2. Look for the "Send" button near top of page. At the right of this button, make sure "EndNote" is selected.
3. Click "Send" button. Click "Save".
 
In EndNote Web:

1. Open your EndNote Web library.
2. Select the Collect tab, Import References.
3. Use the Browse button to select the file you saved above. Click Open.
4. Under Filter click on the drop-down list and select Faculty of 1000.
5. Select a group/folder to put the records in. Click Import.
 

Web of Science / Web of Knowledge

In Web of Science:

  1. Mark the references you want to save.
  2. Click the Save to My EndNote Web button (screen right).
  3. You will be asked to log onto My EndNote Web if you have not already done so.
  4. Use the Back button to return to Web of Science.
Google Scholar

In Google Scholar:

  1. Click on the "Scholar Preferences" link
  2. Under "Bibliography Manager" select the option "Show links to import citations into" and choose "RefMan" (NOT "EndNote") in the drop down box
  3. Click on the "Save Preferences" button
  4. After performing a search on Google Scholar click on the "Import into RefMan" link for the reference you want to import
  5. When you are presented with a window asking if you want to "Open" or "Save" the file, choose to save the file. Each reference is saved as a separate file.
GeoRef

In GeoRef:

  1. Mark references.
  2. Click Save/Print/Email link.
  3. Choose Full format - no references.
  4. Click Save. Then, click Save to disk. The file should be saved as a Text File (*.txt).

 In EndNote Web:

  1. Open your EndNote Web library.
  2. Select the Collect tab, Import References.
  3. Use the Browse button to select the .txt file you saved above. Click Open.
  4. Select the GeoRef (CSA) import filter. (Or click Customize this list to add the GeoRef (CSA) filter.
  5. Click the Import button.
PubMed

In PubMed:

  1. Mark references you want to import.
  2. Under Display select MEDLINE from the pull-down menu.
  3. Under Send To choose File from the pull-down menu.
  4. Save the pubmed_result.txt file to your computer.

In EndNote Web:

  1. Open your EndNote Web library.
  2. Select the Collect tab, Import References.
  3. Use the Browse button to select the .txt file you saved above. Click Open.
  4. Select the Pubmed (NLM ) import filter. (Or click Customize this list to add the Pubmed (NLM) filter.
  5. Click the Import button.
