Today's headlines related to domestic and foreign policy events can be researched here by clicking on links to government websites, media outlets, and advocacy organizations. Below are some suggested resources related to some of the nation's top news stories.

How to Find Online Newspaper Articles
LexisNexis Academic - [UCSC only] search for news articles, Al Jazeera, international news, and NPR transcripts via this site
To search LexisNexis:
1. If you know the name of the source (e.g., NPR transcripts, New York Times)
- Select SOURCES from the top menubar of LexisNexis
- Enter the title of the news source and click Find Title
- Pick the appropriate title and select Search ThisTitle to start your search
- A search screen will appear. Enter your search terms and change the default date, if necessary.
2. Guided Search (for searching multiple news sources at once)
- Select the Guided Search tab
- Fill out the search steps with the following information:
- Step one: General News (or News wire, or News transcripts)
- Step two: Major Papers (or news wire sources, etc.)
- Step three: Enter your search terms
- Step four: Change the default date, if necessary
- Step five: Enter a source (publication title) if known, or leave blank
Access World News - [UCSC only] search local, state, national and international newspapers
- Look for "Search Shortcuts" on the left side of the screen
- Select your area of interest (California, major metropolitan titles, etc.)
- Enter search terms in the search box
- Check the boxes next to the newspaper titles to search only one or more title
