Congressional Committees
There are several ways to see which committees have held
hearings or issued reports on your topic:
Lexis Nexis Congressional (Requires SlugLink)
- Click on "Congressional Publications " then "Advanced" search.
- Enter Search Terms (usually a manufacturing association)
- Use pull-down menu (labled In) and select Witness affiliation

- Note: This will provide a list of hearings and committees which have held hearings or issued reports about a given topic. It shows which Congressional committees have jurisdiction and influence on a topic.

- From the House of Representatives web site.
- Select the committee(s) identified in Lexis Nexis Congressional. Look for a description of the committee under "Jurisdiction".
- Senate Committees
www.senate.gov/committees/index.cfm from the Senate web site.
- Select the committee(s) identified in Lexis Nexis Congressional. Look for a description of the committee under "about the Committee" link.

- via GPO Access web site.
In print, use the "Congressional Yellow Book", JK1010.W37
which is among the books on the Hold Shelf in the Gov Pubs reference
area. This provides a very succint description of the committee.
