"His eye has sharpened mine.  His sympathies and empathies with the world have strengthened mine.  Because of Wynn Bullock's work, I understand more of photography, more of art, and more of the human spirit."

Ansel Adams, Photographer & Environmentalist, from the Introduction to the Wynn Bullock Portfolio, 1973.

When you support the Bullock Family Photography Archive, you help support a part of the mission of the University Library:  to preserve and make accessible to all the incredibly rich heritage of California Central Coast photography.

The University Library's Special Collections & Archives Division, in conjunction with The Bullock-Wilson Trust and Bullock Family Photography LLC, is seeking funds to establish a major archive that will preserve for us and for future generations the creative work of Central California Coast photographers Wynn Bullock and Edna Bullock.

Wynn and Edna's daughter, alumna Barbara Bullock-Wilson and her husband Gene Bullock-Wilson have pledged to gift the University 500 vintage Edna Bullock photographs.  Additionally, they are donating significant sets of research materials ranging from family photos and memorabilia to Barbara's extensive files documenting over 40 years of work with her parents and their artistic legacies.

Visit the Wynn Bullock Photography site to learn more. Read about the March 2012 exhibit in Palm Springs, Florida which was received with great acclaim.

Your Gift at Work

We are focused on acquiring:

  • over 400 vintage black & white Wynn Bullock prints
  • a significant set of Wynn's original Color Light Abstractions
  • the entire traveling exhibit of new color prints that bring to life the vibrancy of the creative vision manifested in Wynn's original 33mm slides

Help us protect and share the legacy of Wynn Bullock, a master California artist whom many consider to be one of the significant photographers of the 20th century.

Help us celebrate the life and work of Edna Bullock, "one of the most prominent woman photographers of our time," according to Richard Gadd, former Director of the Monterey Museum of Art and Director of The Weston Gallery.
