Been there, done that.
We could have used that as the title of our exhibit. It's all about where science
has been and what it has done over the last 120 years or so.
Science is everywhere we turn.
These days it seems to be seeping into every aspect of our lives. Sometimes
it feels like you need to know a computer programming language just to buy groceries
at the store. But science has been a major part of people's lives for centuries.
Every once in a while it's good to look back over our shoulders and see how
things have changed and how they've stayed the same. Yes, we can laugh at the
foibles of the past-they took themselves so seriously with their flying machines
and room-sized computers-but remember that someday, perhaps not so far in the
future, someone will be looking back at our "miracles of modern science",
and they'll be laughing too.
