Awesome Books for Children Database

Developed by prospective teachers and students enrolled in courses on children's literature and reading methodology, the Awesome Books for Children Database (ABCD) is a growing bibliography of exemplary socially significant children's literature.  The annotated bibliographic records include a summary and pedagogically appropriate suggestions for extensions in K-8 classrooms.

Using a piece of children's literature to introduce a topic is a technique that engages student interest and can succinctly illustrate important course concepts.  Our aim to share the labor of the reviewers not only with fellow education students but to also support students and teaching in other disciplines, including history, American studies, literature, community studies, women's studies, art, and writing.

The database is supported by a TLtC Intercampus Feasibility/Planning Grant.

Please participate in our survey.
