Michael Mateas

The University Library is excited and honored to welcome Dr. Michael Mateas as our Synergy/Mosaic Lecturer for Fall 2009. Recently selected as UC Santa Cruz's inaugural MacArthur Foundation Endowed Chair, Dr. Mateas is an associate professor of computer science in the Baskin School of Engineering.

Combining artificial intelligence, game design, and art, his research in video gaming is pushing the frontiers of interactive entertainment as well as pioneering new models of training, transforming gaming into a key expressive medium throughout society.

Join us as Dr. Mateas shares some of the ground-breaking research projects taking place at UCSC's Expressive Intelligence Studio.
